100 YEARS AGO Dec. 1, 1909 Nothing short of a constitutional amendment can save Arkansas forests from taxation, according to David A. Gates, longterm member of the State Tax Commission, who was asked yesterday as to the operation of Arkansas laws relative to the conservation of standing timber and also as to a remedy in case one is needed.
