Bill Samuelson

SPRINGDALE — William “Bill” J. Samuelson, age 71, of Springdale died Nov. 29, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Eureka Springs, the son of Carl and Edith Clark Samuelson.

He was a member of Silent Grove Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. He was a retired salesman from the food industry and had served in the National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his tractor and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold Samuelson and Robert Samuelson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Winters Samuelson of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian Samuelson and Virginia of Cave Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Patrice Glur and Jeff of Lowell; two brothers, Charles Samuelson of California and Fred Samuelson of Nebraska; two sisters, Sally Lake of Oklahoma and Rosemary Kitchen of California; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Brother Steven Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Glur, Jeff Glur, Keith Williford, Bob Jones, Billy Degge and Bill Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Lee and Price Harrell.

Harrington

SEARCY — Herbert Eugene Harrington, 77, of Searcy died Nov. 29, 2009, at the White County Medical Center in Searcy. He was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Huntsville, the son of James Alvin and Retha Velma Sims Harrington.

He was a disabled

veteran of the Korean War, serving the in U.S. Army, and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Garland Harrington, Henry Harrington, Hershel Harrington and Fred Harrington; and two sisters, Mae Harrington Jameson and Irene Harrington Jones.

Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-inlaw, Sarah and Dale Blackburn of Neosho, Mo., Jessie Jordan of Pettigrew and Naomi and Corbett George of Springdale; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Nesbitt and the Rev. Dale Blackburn officiating. Internment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the directions of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome. net, of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lawson, Allen Lawson, Bobby George, Herby Jordan, Joe Jordan and Leon Jordan.

Bennett Ryel

FAYETTEVILLE — Bennett Ryel, 30, of Fayetteville passed away Nov. 29, 2009, in Fayetteville. Bennett was born May 8, 1979, in Rogers, the son of Gary Wa i n an d Betsy Bennett Ryel.

He graduated from Rogers High School in 1997 and was attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He worked for Bedford Camera in Rogers and Little Rock. Bennett was a very talented musician who enjoyed playing the violin and many other instruments; he also enjoyed the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Pete and Fruanna Bennett; and grandfather Johnie Ryel.

He is survived by his brother, Wain Ryel and wife, Michelle, of Fayetteville; his sister, Rosanna Ryel and husband, Daniel Hubbard, of Little Rock; his grandmother, Donna Ryel of Owasso, Okla.; his aunt Rita and uncle Max Anthony; uncle Mike Bennett and aunt Norene; uncle Kyle Bennett; cousins, Haley and husband, Tom Brown, and Hilary and husband, Matt Nicholson; and many great friends.

A memorial service for Bennett will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 3, at Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas in Rogers with the Rev. Bobby Bell oft ciating.

George Hinz

FLIPPIN — George Gerhard Hinz, 77, died Nov. 29, 2009, at the Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville. He was born Feb. 23, 1932, in North Freedom, Wis., to George and Ida Illegan Hinz.

He served in the Air Force and Army, retiring as a Chief Warrant Oftcer 3. He retired from the LeBarge Co. as a supervisor.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Hinz; four daughters, Gina Bohan and Janell Swartz of Kansas, Roseann Gandy of New York and Karen Wallace of New Jersey; four stepdaughters, Sherry Franks of North Carolina, Melissa Smith of Florida, Regina Massey and Brenda Melville of Arkansas; a stepson, Ryan Massey of Arkansas; two sisters; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Methodist Church in Cotter.

Burial will be at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Riley, Kan.

Wayne Garrett

GREENLAND — Wayne Garrett, 64, died Nov. 28, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. He was born July 4, 1945, in Wesley to Marvin and Lottie Jackson Garrett.

He worked at Standard Register for many years and owned and operated a small engine repair shop.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Garrett; three sons, Kevin Garrett and wife Misty of West Fork, Scott Bartz of Fayetteville and Kyle Bartz and wife Erin of Springdale; one daughter, Carol Garrett Tanner of Johnson; two brothers, including Preston Garrett of Rogers; fi ve sisters, including Eutha Parkerson of Farmington, Lucille Rhodes of Springdale, Robbie Sullins of Greenland and Nadine Mitchell of Bella Vista; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Greenland Church of Christ in Greenland. Burial will be in Drakes Creek Cemetery in Drakes Creek.

Sheryl Cruse

WEST FORK — Sheryl Lynn Cruse, 45, of West Fork passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, in Little Rock. She was born Oct. 29, 1964, in Laporte, Ind., the daughter of Ronald F. and Carol (Hudson) Cruse.

She attended Bentonville High School and was a truck driver for Lindsey Construction. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Jasper Cruse, and her granddaughter, Shaelee Cruse.

She is survived by her parents, Carol Cruse of West Fork and Ronald F. Cruse of Omaha; her son, Christopher Cruse of Rogers; two daughters, Nikie Cruse and Cassie Cruse, both of Rogers; her brother, Ricky Cruse and wife, Edna, of Springdale; her sister, LaDonna Cruse of West Fork; her paternal grandmother, Edna Cruse of South Bend, Ind.; six grandchildren, Taebree Cruse, Jayden Cruse, Keaton Cruse, Brookelyn Cruse, Kylee Cruse and Anyssa Cruse; and three nieces, Amanda Cruse, Meghan Cruse and Whitney Cruse.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home with Pastor Laura Whitacker oft ciating. Internment will follow at Rogers Cemetery.

COLCORD, Okla. — Susie Barnes, 67, died Nov. 28, 2009, in Colcord, Okla. She was born July 27, 1942, in Siloam Springs to Mae and Roy Ahrens.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Time Luther and wife Kellie of Fayetteville; a daughter, Tammy Matthews and husband Melvin of Lincoln; two stepsons, Tommy Keene and wife Nancy of Grove, Okla., and Marion Lee Barnes and wife, Tish, of Colcord, Okla.; four brothers; five sisters, including Joan Smithson and Bonnie Dilbeck, both of Siloam Springs; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Colcord Church of Christ.

Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Private burial will follow at Beck Cemetery in Colcord, Okla.

Michael Sbanotto

SILOAM SPRINGS — Michael John Sbanotto, 35, died Nov. 28, 2009, in Siloam Springs. He was born July 8, 1974, in Little Rock to Pete John and Elaine Mussino Sbanotto.

He was employed as a shuttle driver for Allen’s Canning Co. in Siloam Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Angeline Dawn Sbanotto; two daughters, Chloe and Lily Sbanotto; his parents; a brother, Stephen Sbanotto of Siloam Springs; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Sbanotto of Tontitown; and maternal grandmother, Goldie Mussino of Siloam Springs.

Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tontitown.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Tontitown.

Homer Rieff

TULSA, Okla. — Homer Lee Rieff, 86, born on Oct. 10, 1923, in Ondi, passed away Nov. 25, 2009, in Tulsa, Okla. He was the eldest child of five born to Marvin and Exie McClelland Reiff .

During his

full life, Homer loved spending time outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping. A retired auto mechanic, Homer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leatha Ellen Rieff ; a son, Ronald G. and wife, Rhonda, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Robert Rieff , Ryan Rieff and Rebecca Rieff, all of Tulsa, Okla.; and sister, Joann Carolan of Claremore, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dewey Rieff ; brother, Earl Rieff ; and sisters, Corinne McClelland and Novelle Miller.

Memorial services will be held at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m.

Le Roy Gish Sr.

BELLA VISTA — Le Roy Gish Sr., 87, of Bella Vista, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Springdale. Mr. Gish was born May 3, 1922, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Odes W. and Florence (Oxley) Gish.

He formerly owned and operated an ambulance service. He retired from Greyhound as a bus driver and was also a former school bus driver. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1940 to 1946 and was a member of Radiant Life Church in Bentonville. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, La Nelda (Price) Gish of the home; children Le Roy Gish Jr. of Bella Vista, Susan Johnson of Rogers, Betty Lou Shalburn of Republic, Mo., and Rose Marie Scarberry of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Dec. 1, at Benton County Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 1, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. BENTONVILLE — Lester Raymond Woods, 69, of Bentonville died Nov. 27, 2009, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born June 28, 1940, in Chester to Gordon and Elsie McCoy Woods.

He served in the Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1964.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Woods; a daughter, Dorothy Woods of Bentonville; three brothers, Hubert Woods of Gentry, Fred Woods of Lowell and Russell Woods of Bentonville; two sisters, including Josephine Herron of Bentonville.

Services are at 10 a.m. today at Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Betty Lee Hubbard

ROGERS — Betty Lee Hubbard, 85, of Rogers died Nov. 30, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Delaware County, Okla., to Frank and Mabel Parker Witcher.

She retired from Emerson Electric Company and was motor tester and worked in uni-bearings.

Survivors include six sons, Bob Hubbard and wife Wilma of Decatur, Bill Hubbard and wife Susan of Bentonville, Steven Hubbard and wife Bonnie of Rogers, Frank Hubbard and wife Veronica of Gravette, Jerry Hubbard and wife Myrna of Centerton, and Fred Hubbard Jr., of Gentry; a daughter, Sharon Hency and husband John of Walton, Kan.; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three brothers, including Eli Witcher of Gravette and Loren Witcher of Bentonville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Coff elt Cemetery near Vaughn.

Ray D. Carnes

PURDY, Mo. — Mr. Ray D. Carnes, 71, of Purdy passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his home.

Ray was born April 12, 1938, to John and Verile (Fletcher) Carnes in Pea Ridge. He was united in marriage to Joyce Beasley on March 13, 2000, in Oklahoma City.

Ray was a retired truck driver and farmer.

Ray is survived by four sons, Larry Carnes of Oklahoma City, Tim Carnes of Springdale, Brian Dalton of Yukon, Okla., and Quincy Carnes of Purdy, Mo.; three daughters, Diana Anderson of Shawnee, Okla., Paula Strite of Fort Smith and Linda Wright of Springdale; four brothers, Melvin Carnes of Pineville, Lonnie Carnes of Monett, Mo., John Carnes of Monett and Bill Carnes of Springdale; four sisters, Rachel Banks of Noel, Mo., Patsy Ruth Ellis of Silver Creek, N.M., Ona Thrasher of Pierce City, Mo., and Margaret Southerland of Rogers; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 2, 2009, at Bennett-Wormington in Monnett. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfi eld, Mo.
