Bentonville Gold did just enough to avoid another first-round upset loss to Gravette in the first round of the junior boys division of the Benton County Invitational on Monday. The third-seeded Tigers went on an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter and held on for a 41-34 win against the sixth-seeded Lions at Panther Arena. Gravette, which upset Gold in the county tournament two years ago, had pulled within 27-23 at the end of the third quarter when Ternece Pierce hit a jumper at the buzzer. The Tigers (4-1) responded in the fourth with a putback from Austin Haggard and a pair of transition baskets from Garrett Kaufman off turnovers.
