Posted: August 26, 2009 at 1:25 p.m.

— A Washington County jury ruled today that Cheyenne Shinault and Terry Lankford were not responsible for the death of 49-year-old Kent Crigler.

The jury began deliberations around 10:30 a.m. and came back with its verdict around 1 p.m. in the trial that began Monday. The accused were on trial as accomplices to second-degree murder, but could have been convicted of a lesser charge of manslaughter. The jury found them not guilty on both counts.

Crigler died at Washington Regional Medical Center Jan. 5 following a fight with Shinault and Lankford at an apartment complex at 969 Holly St. in Fayetteville.
