Sales-taxes down in Bentonville, Rogers

The downward trends match, but the cities blame two different causes.

City of Rogers officials were hoping for a limited decline in sales-tax revenue this month - nothing more than 3 percent. Reality hit twice as hard, with sales-tax revenue in August dipping 6.9 percent over 2008's totals, and the economic slowdown in retailheavy Rogers continues.
