Where does the South end?

Does the South end before you leave Arkansas? It's a question that has always fascinated me. If you want to stir up a hornet's nest, do as I recently did in a blog post at www.rexnelsonsouthernfried.com and contend that Fayetteville is actually in the Midwest.
