Sears loss in quarter a surprise; stock falls

Weak sales in home-improvement products, appliances and clothing were cited in Sears Holdings Corp.'s unexpected second-quarter loss of $94 million.

Sears Holdings Corp. said Thursday that it lost money in its second quarter - missing expectations - as its results were dragged down by lower sales and one-time costs, causing shares to plunge.
