Pulte Homes acquires Centex

$1.3 billion purchase creates biggest homebuilder in U.S.

Pulte Homes Inc. completed its $1.3 billion purchase of Centex Corp. on Tuesday, creating the biggest U.S. homebuilder amid signs the worst housing slump since the Great Depression may be nearing a bottom.
