Attacks shake Kabul 2 days before elections

NATO soldier among 8 dead; media restricted on voting day

An Afghan man hurries past the scene of a deadly suicide car-bombing Tuesday on the outskirts of Kabul. The blast was aimed at NATO vehicles, but about a dozen private vehicles also were destroyed.

Insurgents struck the Afghan capital two days before national elections, firing rockets or mortar shells at the presidential palace and unleashing a suicide car bomber on a NATO convoy.
