Improvements made at Saturday's scrimmage

Posted: August 16, 2009 at 5:06 a.m.

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino helps pumps up the team during practice Saturday at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

While Arkansas was far from perfect on either side the ball in Saturday's 160-plus play scrimmage, both sides displayed sufficient progress for the Razorbacks to believe they are on the right track heading into their Sept. 5 season opener against Missouri State in Little Rock.

Ryan Mallett threw for more than 300 yards in a long scrimmage on Aug. 15, and Coach Bobby Petrino was pleased with the performance.
