In October 2007, Alderman Lioneld Jordan was approached by several friends who thought it would be neat if he became Fayetteville's next mayor. Whatever was said worked. One month later the populist from Ward 4 was busy putting together a campaign team to unseat two-term incumbent Dan Coody. From the beginning, that grouping of top-tier supporters included former Ward 2 Alderman Don Marr and University of Arkansas communication professor Steve Smith.
