SPRINGDALE A school resource officer with the Springdale Police Department has resigned after being accused of stealing from a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Springdale.
Officer Danny Cox was placed on administrative leave Aug. 3 and resigned after police received a complaint that he stole merchandise through the self-checkout.
Police Chief Kathy O'Kelley says a review of the incident found there is merit to the allegation and she expects misdemeanor charges against Cox.
No charges have been filed yet.
Cox was the school resource officer at Springdale's Southwest Junior High School.
