Arkansas home sales down 4.5 percent in June

LITTLE ROCK Home sales in Arkansas fell 4.5 percent in June compared with the that month in 2008, extending a housing decline in the state for the 42nd consecutive month, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Tuesday.
There were some bright spots, however.
Sales were up about 8 percent in Pulaski County, with almost 450 houses sold. Sales dropped in Northwest Arkansas, but were down only 4 percent in Benton County and 3 percent in Washington County.
Overall, 2,323 houses were sold in Arkansas, compared with 2,433 in June last year.
The average house price in the state was about $149,500, down from about $160,000 in June last year.
