John Allen Muhammad, convicted of orchestrating the sniper attacks in the Washington area in 2002, lost the appeal of his death sentence before a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, setting the stage for him to be executed in less than three months, barring intervention by the Supreme Court.
