New authority set up to manage freight

Improving Fort Smith area transportation infrastructure is part of its duties

Twelve governing spots on the newly formed Western Arkansas Regional Intermodal Authority will be filled in time for the authority board's first meeting in mid-September, an official with the Western Arkansas Planning and Development District said Friday.
