What America needs is another Sam Rayburn

So I was talking politics the other day on the patio at Jose's on Dickson Street when the bank bailout, the stimulus plan, cash for clunkers and health care reform were all broached. Someone asked, "Who would you rather see in control of Congress? A Republican or a Democrat?" I thought about that for a while, then answered that I would rather see a pragmatist in charge. Somebody who knows enough when to compromise and when to stand tough.
