LOS ANGELES Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen's Funny People had a solid though unremarkable start at the box office, debuting as the No. 1 film with $22.6 million over its first weekend.
Aliens in the Attic, the weekend's other new movie, ended up struggling as expected, with only $8 million.
(500) Days of Summer continued its strong run in limited release and grossed a healthy $2.77 million, bringing its total to $6.8 million.
Family action flick G-Force came in third place with $17.5 million.
The Ugly Truth declined 53 percent on its second weekend, to $13.1 million, a signal that it won't have a long and prosperous box-office run.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince received a boost from expanding into 162 IMAX theaters and declined only 40 percent on its third weekend, to $17.9 million.
