Unexpected drop called a 'temporary blip' in U.S. recovery

Derek Jenkins, a Baldor Electric Co. employee, moves a large roll of steel inside the company's factory in St. Louis on June 3. Factory orders rose in June for the fourth time in five months, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts had forecast a 1 percent decline.
Shrinking business activity, fewer new orders and lower employment sapped some modest momentum from the U.S. services sector in July, although economists said the setback likely was a blip and not the start of a troubling trend.
