Modern West Fork campus developed from 'Shed' schools

John Selph, Boston Mountain Education Cooperative director, right, who served as West Fork's district superintendent from 1988 to 2005, returned to the school to give his annual presentation on the history of the rural school district to new teachers Wednesday at the administration building.
Over the years, education in the West Fork School District has evolved from schools named "Shed" to a public school campus in the city that houses three buildings and more than 1,200 students. New West Fork teachers got a local history lesson about the rural area's humble beginnings Wednesday as part of their orientation activities.
