Fun in the sun : This month's First Friday celebration in downtown Bentonville is aimed at beating the Dog Days of Summer.

Humid, mid-90-degree days are scorching northwest Arkansas, but Downtown Bentonville Inc., the brains behind the community's monthly First Friday celebrations, is offering a solution. With everything from water-balloon tosses to doggie splash pools on the docket, this month's First Friday festivities, appropriately themed Dog Days of Summer, are scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday on the downtown Bentonville Square.
