State park to be first by the Mississippi

Plans for 550-acre site began with Faubus legislation, officials say

The state has begun work on its first-ever state park along the Mississippi River, more than 40 years after Gov. Orval Faubus signed legislation to evaluate the feasibility of a state park near the nation's second longest river.
