Median business : City Council gives OK to Garland Avenue proposal

Traffic backs up at the intersection of Garland Avenue and Sycamore Street on Tuesday in Fayetteville. The City Council on Tuesday authorized Mayor Lioneld Jordan to discuss a project to widen Garland with state highway officials.

The Fayetteville City Council on Tuesday authorized Mayor Lioneld Jordan to deliver a conceptual plan to the state highway department for widening Garland Avenue to an 83-foot-wide "cross section." The cross section includes a 9-footwide median, two lanes for vehicle travel on each side, bike lanes, 3 feet of greenspace and then sidewalks on both sides.
