Consumer spending rose in June
Retail, housing market edged up despite 1.3% income drop

Shoppers like these Friday at a new J.C. Penney store in New York City are seen as a sign of growing consumer confidence.
Consumers opened their wallets and pocketbooks a bit more in June, increasing their spending for the second straight month while saving less, even as incomes fell.
