Justin Nolan, Associate Professor in the Anthropology department at the University of Arkansas, will lead a foraging journey of medicinal plants found on Crystal Bridges grounds. Nolan will discuss the human relationship with nature and health belief systems often found in region-specific folkways and traditions. Nolan's fieldwork expertise focuses on the Cherokee Nation and explores the linkages between ecological diversity in the Ozark foothills and the continuity of Cherokee artisanship and expressive traditions. He also recently completed a study of sustainable tourism throughout Arkansas’ natural regions. Sponsored by The Coleman Company.
