A North Little Rock lawyer claims employees of the Fort Smith Police Department tried to hack into his computer by giving him a hard drive that “contained malicious software” meant to render his computer unsafe for use. In a motion for sanctions filed on Friday, Matthew Campbell also claims the police department deleted entire email accounts rather than turn documents over as ordered by a Sebastian County Circuit Court judge on May 9. The case was originally filed in 2013 under the “Arkansas Whistle-Blower Act.”

Attorney Cheryl Maples filed a motion April 8, 2015, withdrawing a previous motion from plaintiffs' in a same-sex marriage case that requested a retired state Supreme Court justice and a special justice appointed to the state Supreme Court last year should be allowed to decide whether gay marriage is legal in the state. The new motion filed in April states that newly elected judges should be allowed to hear the case, making CV15-227, a separate case to decide which judges should hear the original case, moot.
