GOLD ANNIVERSARY

Quapaw Quarter hits 50 and parties like it's 1892

The Quapaw Quarter Association is observing its 50th anniversary this year and kicked off the celebration Jan. 30 with a members-only reception at Dibrell House in the Governor's Mansion Historic District.

It was a night for anniversaries. Host Carl Miller was celebrating 50 years of having owned the historic Dibrell House, which he restored and furnished with period pieces.

The home, built in the Queen Anne style in 1892, was named for the first owners, Dr. and Mrs. James A. Dibrell Jr.

Also celebrating her first year as the association's executive director was Patricia Blick.

Guests were invited to tour the home and enjoyed drinks and a buffet of finger foods.

The Quapaw Quarter Association was incorporated in 1968 with the mission to preserve historic properties. Chuck Cliett is board president.
